Connemara and Galway

In the Connemara district I found my next studio!!!

That’s me standing outside my next studio.
This is inside my next studio!!! Aren’t those beams absolutely amazing? Unfortunately, as you may have noticed, my next studio is already taken. It had been stables for the pit horses at ….
A little climb down into the mine, actually 40 meters down a shaft..

The most amazing landscape phenomena in Connemara (above the ground) is man made and a little bit sad. The famine walls. Walls were made by starving families to get paid by the government. What they got did not sustain their lives and many many died.

Dry stone walls criss-crossed the landscape.
The famine walls.
Not a good photo cos it’s getting dark. But get the feeling of this land?
Maybe someone’s next big project. Not mine!!

Finally got to Galway. A gorgeous city. Absolutely crammed with people as it was Bank Holiday and they were all visiting Galway.

Galway colour.
The Kings Head tavern Galway.

And that’s a wrap!!

  1. Great photos and sketches.
Cromarty was mentioned in the Travel section of the Herald today. It was one of some seaside villages to visit .

  2. Such sad looking landscape but I guess it’s a reflection of the history ……….
Love the look of the “new studio” shame it is already taken!
