Another lazy day in Cromarty

I know I should be working but… Wendy was here so we walked around talking to the locals. We went to visit the house where Hugh Miller was born in 1802. The best thing about Hugh Miller was he left school at 14 cos he had an argument with his teacher. Hugh was insisting the teacher was spelling a word wrong!! Anyway Hugh was self taught, became an accountant, a geologist and an editor for The Witness, the newspaper of the free Church of Scotland. See, teachers aren’t always right and don’t always hold the key to a young persons future and career. The key is within themselves.

The thatched roof of the Millar house where Hugh was born. One of the few thatched roof houses in the highlands.
Yes that ceiling is low. Ken had to stoop down. This was the kitchen. No wall to wall units here!!
The back garden. The place is owned and run by the national trust.

Of course we had to have lunch so we walked across the road to the Fisherman’s Pub.

The house behind the red car was Hugh Millers so he didn’t have far to trot to the pub.

After a scrumptious meal Ken went to check out the court house. Wendy and I did some painting

Cromarty Court house, museum.
Art and craft building, Shore Rd.

Thanks for all the ideas for manifesting an epiphany or just doing something constructive. I had some great feedback over this one.

What people did say mostly was to relax , be in the environment, use my artists eye, meditate and generally just let it happen organically. Great advice. others include:

“Ask the unicorn!”

Meditate ( part of the relaxing theory)

Use the stones in the buildings. The colours the textures and the shapes.

Use rubbings of surfaces for texture and literally use my environment. Sticks, dirt, fibres and any found objects to help make marks.

Such good advice from you all that I’m fired up now.

Ciao. Pamela
