Yip! Those purple hills did it!!! I had to paint them and today was the day.

But then I had to get out of my studio while a harp tutorial was in progress. So we walked up the hill to the Stables. Stopped off on the way to do some rubbings on a gravesite. It didn’t work!!

Further up the hill we approached the tunnel for Cromarty Castle where the servants had to enter the grounds to the back of the building. Couldn’t have the riff raff observed by the Lord and Ladies.

Had a few moans and groans ( not from me) as we trudged our way up the hill. Finally arrived at the Stables and an exhibition by 2 Black Isle artists, Ian Westacott and Sarah Jane Watson. Ian does etchings of trees and Sarah Jane does industrial type drawings of the Riggs. Nice to see that they had some red dots as well.

Back at the studio I did this little watercolour of those gorgeous wee houses on the shore line.

Till tomorrow. Pamela.
Yes I loved those houses by the sea with the setting sun. Just loving your messeges so much Pam. Lovely sunny am this today here, instead of rain!!
Love and joy to u both x b

Wonderful watercolours Pam! I presume you didn’t go through the tunnel!! Not at all riffraff- more of a celebrity!

Excellent watercolours. “The skull and crossbones design originated in the Late Middle Ages as a symbol of death and especially as a memento mori (remember you must die) on tombstones”. “Memento mori can prompt you to take action, and to avoid needlessly wasting the precious time you have.” Fascinating!

The heather hills in your style of painting works so well.. the range of mauves and purples against that bright green .. very attractive. The coastal houses look great, especially like your sky in that one. I wonder how big the paintings are? Does your residency include an exhibition at the end? Thanks for sharing .. keep them coming !
