Didn’t even try go find a coffee this morning. Knew it would be shut, but ventured down to the pub around lunchtime for coffee and fries. At that time I had spent a couple of hours in the studio. It was those riggs on top of that special water, did they realise ???
On khadi paper ( 100% recycled cotton rag) I scraped on the blues and grey of the water then used my cut up credit card to make the lines of the rigg construction.
Not sure about the texture on the paper but I like the ghost like appearance of the rigg.
I wet my next sheet of hot pressed watercolour paper then sat in the sun while it soaked.
10am this morning it was warm. I’m in a summer dress. Had to change by 3pm this afternoon to 2 jerseys and long pants.Ok, it’s the rigg, but it’s not the rigg. Opinions???My Weta Workshop t shirt from my grandchildren Kynan and McKenzie. It’s great guys.❤️A little pen and wash of the house at the back of my studio. Haven’t seen any comings or going so it may be unoccupied. Cute though.Sat across the road on the street bench and sketched our home of 2 weeks. (1 week almost gone) Made from an ancient form of red sandstone.Just to prove I was in my studio today.
That’s it for today. Hope you are all well and enjoying being on my journey with me.
Love the oil riggs… the textured paper suits the subject matter, also love the more watery one, more of a close up I can imagine the water slapping the side of the rig legs, fluid, flowing depths against hard solid metal …..
The building sketches are great such charming perspectives!
See you soon!
Wow, you have been very productive. I really like both versions of the oil rig. The one third sheet is an attractive format . Thanks for giving the size info and ideas about how the paint went on .. must try. Sunfrock to several jerseys in one day .. sounds just like Dunedin !
You’ve nailed it with the card..absolutely love it. As a ‘naki girl you have a head start.

Good stuff! I love your sketch of ‘Ardyne’. Yes Scotland can be all four seasons in one day. 💜

Love the second “Rigg” painting, pure abstraction. Pays to quickly do something several times.
