Off to Skye

We had to get in a boat and go look for Nessie. Didn’t find her but came to this amazing place

Urquart castle ruins.
9.30 in the morning and all these people already walking around the ruins. What is left is apparently only 15% of the original castle.

Back in Fort Augustus for lunch and then back on the road.

Had to stop for a listen to a busking bagpiping highlander.
Next stop was Eilean Donan castle. A restored 13th Century castle.
Margaret and I had time to sit in the sun and do a sketch of the castle, before we visited it.
Able to take photos outside but not inside. The home of the McRae clan.

Many more miles then across the bridge to the Isle of Skye. Finally arriving at our accommodation in the gorgeous coastal village of Portree.

Portree houses viewed from our house.
Our house for the next few nights.
The power of scribble. Done out the window as we drove to Portree.
Hills, rocks and the road winding through the mountains on the way to Portree.

Beautiful day, beautiful scenery, so lucky to have this opportunity.

Pamela.

  1. “Over the Sea to Skye”. Portree is such a pretty place; I was there back in ’73.
Margaret looks like she would like to take the Bagpiper home with her. xx
