Magnificent Montefalco

This place is gorgeous.

Typical Italian breakfast in the piazza, cornet and coffee.

Breakfast venue.

We walked down to the walls of the old town and looked across the Umbrian landscape.

Looking out towards Trevi.

We went to the Museum of Montefalco and saw paintings painted by local artists in the 13th and 14th century. Using gold leaf and Madonnas and babies looking very Italian.

This is a piece of a fresco removed and restored onto a canvas of Saint Margaret. I like her non assuming style. I think she’s behind bars.

St. Margaret

Beside the museum we went into the Church of San Francisco. De commissioned now but a stunning building with frescoes.

The ceiling of the Church of San Francisco. (Not the city, but St Francis)
How about that for an art piece?

Then it was back out to the piazza for a lunch during siesta.

Keeping in the shade in the heat of the day.

Because the city is built on a hill there is always a view over the landscape. Sometimes through a stunning old arch through the walls of the old city.

Stunning views.

Sat and put a sketch into my book of the little street where Wendy’s house is.

Wendy’s house is this side of the red one.

Sat in the living room and painted the neighbours window.

The house across from Wendy’s.
Selfie of a painting in an art space.

So there has been queries from some of you who are aware we are going to Morocco and concerned for our safety because of the devastation after the earthquake. After receiving information regarding the situation where we will be travelling ( not Marrakech ) our plans are to continue travelling as arranged, in the northern area of Morocco.

Ciao. Pamela
