The new year has arrived. The summer has been amazing and the pōhutukawa trees were spectacular as our native Christmas tree.

I decided that I would open my studio for locals and visitors on the 6th January as there were many people around. Unfortunately they preferred to go to the beach rather than my studio, but those that did venture in were interested in my work and enjoyed chatting about it.

The month has not seen any creative work coming from my studio and I am missing it immensely. We have had many family members staying to help my husband and I celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and the studio has been well used for accommodation.

I’m looking forward to next month when we go in our van to the South Island. My intention is to do lots of sketches on our travels and reignite my passion for plein air. I’ll then ciao.
