It’s February

Whiritoa walk.

It’s been a wonderful summer this year and it has resulted in the opportunity to spend time in our beautiful country. From the Whiritoa walk I did 2 paintings. This one that directly related to the image above…

and this one which is about the light through the trees and the silhouettes on the skyline.

I’m looking forward to travelling to the South Island this week and spending lots of time finding places to sketch. Sometimes these sketches give me inspiration for future paintings and sometimes these sketches are just that and become a reminder of a time and place.

Out on the harbour.

This painting was inspired after I watched my daughter and granddaughter on the paddle board. They seemed so at one with the space they were in. A beautiful silence around them.

Flow

Really love to watch watercolour flow. It is the only medium that has such amazing qualities that show the flow but also the granulation of the pigment as it moves on the paper.

Flow 2

Just a heads up, if you are over at Mount Maunganui call in to Recliner City on Maunganui Road as I have some art works on display there, along with other artists.

Saw this piece of art work at a cafe recently.

I’ll be back to you next month.

As always, send me a message if you are interested in any of my art and I can give you more information.

  3. Wow….Feel like you have made a huge leap with these latest paintings, love the figures in the landscape, and the flow set ….you’ve moved away from the horizon and can go in any direction.
