Notes on November

Hello to all my blog followers. Welcome to my November roundup.

The annual exhibition of SPLASH, Watercolour NZ, is the highlight of my year and this year surpassed all others. Firstly, to be invited to be guest artist was very humbling but such an enriching experience. Secondly, to see the paintings in a place of national importance was inspiring. To hear what people said about my work was amazing. (Not always positive, but always because they had LOOKED at it). That means a lot to any creative portraying an idea or situation.

I sold the 2 little ones that were in my blog last month and 2 from the Guest Artist wall.

It was an enjoyable few days away, staying in our camping van. I even had time for sketching. Here are a few I did on my travels. Some plein air and others from photos.

Cuppa at Raetihi on the way down. (state highway 1 was closed with a crash, so we were diverted.)
Cuppa at Ōtaki the next day.
Camp Elsdon in Porirua.
Permanent residents in buses. A quiet camp that backed onto native bush.

Looking out over Porirua city from camp Elsdon.

Whare kai at Elsdon camp.

We came up through Taranaki on our way home.

Near Whanganui while we waited for the stop/ go man to let us travel on.
When I was 1 month old my family moved into this ‘modern’ home in Hawera . It looks just as it did then. Maybe the trees are bigger. My husband and I were married on that lovely green lawn. So good to sketch.
A trip up Taranaki from Stratford to the ski huts and the new walking bridge that connects one side of the ravine to the other.
High over the chasm was quite scary and I couldn’t go very far. Then the cloud came down and the ski huts disappeared, as did the end of the bridge.

So home again and now packing for the Tauranga, Western Bay of Plenty Garden and Art festival. From Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th, 3 days from 9 to 5 and Sunday 9 to 3. I’m feeling tired already. If you are joining the festival please come and see me. I’ll be at the HUB, the waterfront area. Look for my big blue flag outside my gazebo. Don’t forget to say you follow my blog and there will be 30% off all purchases.

North End

Plein air last month was down the North End of Waihi Beach. We have canceled November’s catch up but looking forward to December.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my blog. I do love all the feedback. Please feel free to share my blog with others you think may be interested.
