Actually April

Already April. How did that happen?

Welcome followers of my blog. Hopefully you are happy to stay connected cos I’ve some great things for the month.

Firstly just a little recap of March. What is it about March? It’s not a holiday month after Christmas, nor is it an Easter holiday. It just sits there in between the two, just being March!

We used this time to visit family in Australia. One lovely day in Townsville I sketched the Strand. A favourite place for walkers and joggers and everyone in between.

The Strand towards the Casino.

There was LOTS of rain during our time there so the pets were sketched when we couldn’t get out.

Charlie the cat that looks more like a guinea pig here.
Two sketches of George keeping cool on the tiles.
.

In Brisbane the rain had stopped so we were able to get out and about. I do like the Queenslander architecture and this one appealed.

I did feel the need to draw more family pets as well.

Mater lives in Brisbane with his buddy Flo.
Flo is a very large Saint Bernard.
Airports are the best place to do quick sketches.

Here’s a little painting from this month.

Watercolour and ink. With a waka!

Over the last 8 years I have been a member of a small group of artists called “Unlimited Palette”. This is a group that exhibits together, has artists studio visits, exhibition visits, artists talks and technique discussions. We do not paint together but discuss and challenge each other in a supportive group. This month we loose a valued member of our group who is moving to a new location. Hopefully to start another Unlimited Palette group in another town.

One of my paintings will go with her to her new home. (That’s not a moon on the hill.)

Although I won’t be doing major works this month there will be lots of sketching.

My journal for our trip to America.

For almost 6 weeks we will be experiencing a new country and culture and I want to record it ALL! I will do more regular blogs over the next 6 weeks so you can come along with me.

Watch this space.
