We’ve had a fabulous few days in DC with our granddaughter and her boyfriend as tour guides. They go to George Washington University and having just finished the semester they were the perfect guides.

Of course what people see in Washington, when they are not looking at monuments, is a baseball game.

Then there was the Congress Library.

Then to the art gallery.

Amazing opportunity to see these iconic art works. I feel really blessed.
Maybe you are hanging out to see some of my work too.

So our fabulous tour guides had booked us on a trip up the Washington Monument.

Not sure if I was happy about this or not. Unlike the Boston monument that had 296 steps, this had a lift. That made me feel a little better. But it was A LOT higher. I sucked it up and felt more confident after asking the gentleman who ushered us into the lift ‘how often was maintenance done on the lift?’
‘Every day Ma’am, every day.’ I didn’t ask if they had done it that day yet. As it was, all went well and the view through the little windows around the structure was amazing.

I know it’s full of monuments but Washington DC was a pleasant place to be with lots of walkways and friendly people. A special thanks to our 2 wonderful guides.

We are getting near the end of our trip but we have one more destination I’m looking forward to showing you. Hang in there a little bit longer. Pamela.
