Our days are getting warmer and longer. Summer is on its way. By all accounts it’s going to be long and hot. Bring it on!!!
That’s me with the Best in Watercolour award at the Tauranga Society of Artists. Thrilled to get it.
The other prize I got was a merit in the abstract category.
The winter months are not helpful in enabling me to get outside and paint. Our august Plein Air group decided the day was not conducive to sitting outside. I did go to our meeting spot just incase. While I waited I drew the building in front of me.
Eventually Jenny arrived and we found somewhere warm and had coffee. September may be warmer. Our destination for sketching has not been determined yet but those of you who do want to venture out will be notified.
Off to Pukekohe next week to deliver art work for the Franklin art society exhibition.
At the beginning of October the Tauranga Society of Artists will host their Spring exhibition.
In conjunction with the Jensen Art Award for best work. If you are in or around Tauranga during these dates make sure you visit this exhibition.
I have recently been notified that I have been accepted as an artist for the upcoming Garden and Art Festival in the Bay of Plenty. This happens every 2 years and this year they have paired me up with the Omokoroa Country Club which is up the coast from Tauranga, closer to me at Waihi Beach. This is to be held in November, 12th to 15th. I’ll have more information for you closer to the time, but love to see you there if you are in this event.
Some of my watercolours that have been sitting in my drawers have had a new lease of life. Pastel is my latest go to when I want to give energy and colour to my work.
